A Sense of Place in History
Trinity Bluff links Fort Worth’s
downtown area with the historic Samuels addition, where early
residents settled to be close to the downtown courthouse
and the stockyards located just a few blocks to the north.
The original fort known as Fort Worth was
first erected below and then later upon the bluff to protect
settlers from the Comanche. From the bluff, one has a commanding
view to the North and West.
In the early days a view like this was lifesaving – today
it is breathtaking.
For much of the late 20th century, the
area was overlooked. Century-old houses fell into disrepair,
and empty lots became dumping grounds.
Working
in tandem with city leaders, private citizens and stakeholders
in a private-public
partnership, Trinity Bluff Development, Ltd.
began revitalizing the area.
 The
acquisition phase is complete. Houses are being moved
or razed.
Trees are
being pruned and nurtured. Historical
sites are being surveyed and preserved. And Nash Elementary
School, built in 1927, remains while the master plan
paves the way for additional educational and cultural
facilities.
Trinity Bluff’s promising
future is rooted in its storied past.
